WEEK 1: Insights from the Webinar on Serving Humanity Through Consultancy📝
General Briefing About the Programme
The first activity for Usrah in Action II (SCSH 3164) was participating in an online webinar entitled "Serving Humanity Through Consultancy: How Academicians Create Real World Impact," organized by the World Academy of Islamic Management (WAIM) on 5 March 2026. The webinar featured YM Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, former Group CEO and CFO of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), who shared his professional experiences and perspectives on leadership, consultancy, and community service.
Throughout the session, the speaker emphasized that consultancy is not merely about providing professional advice but about using one's knowledge, expertise, and experience to create meaningful and lasting benefits for society. He highlighted the importance of integrity, ethical leadership, continuous learning, and the responsibility of professionals to contribute beyond their workplaces. The webinar also demonstrated how academicians and industry leaders can work together to solve real-world problems and inspire positive social change.
My Personal Reflection
As the leader of Team 8: Welfare, Motivation, and Student Development, this webinar provided me with valuable insights before we began planning our community engagement activities throughout the semester. One message that resonated with me was that true leadership is measured not by one's position, but by the positive impact one creates for others. This encouraged me to carry out my responsibilities with sincerity, accountability, and a genuine intention to serve the community.
The webinar also reminded me that knowledge should not remain within the classroom but should be transformed into meaningful actions that benefit society. This perspective helped me explore ideas and approaches for our upcoming programmes, particularly in designing activities that could create a positive impact on the students of Maahad Riyadus Salihin. It motivated me to think more creatively and strategically as we began planning our initiatives.
Another important lesson I gained was the importance of collaboration and effective communication. I realized that meaningful community engagement requires teamwork, mutual respect, and the willingness to learn from one another. These values became essential as my teammates and I started preparing for the various programmes and activities scheduled throughout the semester.
Overall, this webinar served as an excellent introduction to my journey in Usrah in Action II. It broadened my understanding of leadership, professionalism, and community service, while inspiring me to become a more responsible and proactive individual who strives to use knowledge for the benefit of others.
